Standards

Editorial standards

We would rather say less and be right. Every guide and tool on Meth House by State follows these rules.

Sources we use

We use primary public sources first, including state statutes, administrative codes, health and environmental agencies, housing departments, law-enforcement registries, and official court or legislative materials when relevant. When a state does not keep everything in one place, we point to the clearest official source available.

We cite the primary source whenever one exists: the statute, the agency page, the court rule, or the extension publication. News articles and industry groups are used only for context and are labeled as such. Each guide lists its sources at the bottom with links.

What we will not do

Tools and data

The Meth property check matches your search to the relevant state guide, then surfaces the main official links for lists, disclosures, cleanup standards, and contractor information. It is designed to shorten the path to the source, not replace it.

Review and updates

Each guide shows the date it was last reviewed. We re-check sources when we learn a rule has changed and at least once a year. When a change matters to readers, we note it on the page.

Corrections

If you find a mistake, use the contact form and include the page and a source. Confirmed errors are fixed promptly, and substantive corrections are noted on the page with the date.

Limits

This site is for general information only and is not legal, environmental, or professional advice. Before you rely on any result, confirm the current rule, list status, or cleanup requirement with the official office for that state or locality. If you need advice about a specific property, talk to a qualified attorney, inspector, or certified cleanup professional.
